First day (and first time ever) printing Intaglio! These are experimental proofs to see how my plate prints at this stage. I will still be adding a couple different levels of aquatint, and then I’ll be printing more. I used three different colours of Stonehenge paper, warm white, fawn (always my favourite) and steel grey. I’m not sure which one works best with the image…
The second image is it inked and wiped in the traditional intaglio method, the first and third are inked as a relief print, with ink rolled on top so it doesn’t go into the etched lines, creating a negative image. The last is an experiment in frustration that the blue ink was drying to fast so I kind of got frustrated, but I actually love the way it turned out. Very Yves Klein hahaha.
I always knew intaglio would be my favourite print method, and so far it is so much fun seeing how versatile the techniques can be. Ahhh what a beautiful day. Hope you’re all well. <3
